Mountain Essentials

2025

This ‘Mountain Essentials’ project was created for an independent study class in my final year of the BFA programme at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I had the privilege of working alongside a professor I profoundly respect, Dobriana Gheneva, an experience I’m deeply grateful for. I still have so much to learn, and while this project stands on its own, it also draws from a parallel project I was developing at the time—Patience, Little Ace.

The colour palette takes heavy inspiration from Mongolia—a country that has recently captured my imagination. From the warmth of the gers to the breathtaking landscapes and rosy winter cheeks, the visuals really struck me. I hope to expand this project with more designs that directly pull from that inspiration.

The core focus here was technical drawing, which is still a growing skill for me. I learned how to render flats from five different angles—this project features four. It was a challenge at first, thinking dimensionally, but soon it began to click and felt far more realistic and effective.

I also experimented with AI image generation, though the results didn’t quite meet my expectations—definitely an area I plan to revisit and refine.

The garments featured in the photoshoot below are actually from Patience, Little Ace, but I felt they visually supported the mood and palette of Mountain Essentials, helping me bring this concept to life.
